FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT
THE BENSON BOX™

Question:
Why should I use a Benson Box™ in place of a corrugated cardboard box or a hard, trunk-like ATA  case?
Answer:
The Benson Box™ has passed third-party testing standards and, thus, offers  superior protection to assure that your fragile products arrive at their final destination without any damage. The Benson Box™ design has distinct advantages over both cardboard boxes and ATA cases. These are more specifically addressed in the questions and answers below.
Question:

Since the Benson Box™ is more expensive than cardboard shipping containers, how can I justify this additional cost?

Answer:

The cost benefits of a Benson Box™ are easily justified in three ways:

1.     Since the Benson Box™ is reusable, its cost should be divided by the number of shipping cycles.  Most customers experience between 60 and 120 shipping cycles for a Benson Box™.  When this is considered, the Benson Box™ is often less expensive than other shipping containers which provide inadequate protection.

2.     If the item being shipped is very expensive (some electronic items and medical instruments cost thousands of dollars), the cost of a Benson Box™ is immediately justified in relation to the value of the item being shipped.

3.     Since the Benson Box™ is light-weight, it saves in shipping and freight costs when compared to other types of protective shipping containers.

Question:

Why does the Benson Box™ offer superior protection?

Answer: The Benson Box™ is constructed of corrugated plastic and is designed with a telescoping top which slides over the bottom to provide a double layer of protection, i.e., the closed Benson Box™ effectively includes four layers of corrugated plastic.  The interior of the box has custom-designed foam padding (specifically designed for the product being shipped) as does the inside of the upper lid.  The upper and lower sections of the box are fastened with a Velcro-like material and a security seal can be attached to provide a tamper-proof closure.
Question: Wouldn’t those hard, trunk-like cases (sometimes called ATA cases) provide better protection than a Benson Box™.
Answer: Since the Benson Box™ is made of corrugated plastic, it actually “gives” when dropped or jarred, thus absorbing energy and protecting the fragile item inside.  Conversely, rigid or hard cases allow the energy to pass through to the item inside even though a fragile item being shipped in a hard case might have foam protection similar to the Benson Box™.
Question: Can I get a Benson Box™ from anyone other than Freight Mate?
Answer: The Benson Box™ has both United States and Canadian Patents and an additional U.S. Patent is pending.  Unless another company is licensed by Freight Mate to sell a Benson Box™, Freight Mate is your only available supplier.
Question: What sizes of Benson Box™  are available?
Answer: The Benson Box™ is available in 29 standard sizes.  Custom sizes can be provided for items which are odd-sized, or otherwise would not fit into a standard Benson Box™.
Question: Does the Benson Box™ come in colors?
Answer: Yes.  There are 9 colors available, some of which are standard colors and others may require special ordering at an additional cost.  Some of the more popular colors are:  yellow, red, orange, blue, navy, and black.
Question: What about printing?
Answer: Custom screen printing is available and can include your company logo, name, address, telephone number, etc.  With printing added, the Benson Box™ becomes an effective advertising medium for your company.
Question: What is the minimum quantity I can order?
Answer: Since Benson Boxes are fabricated only after an order has been received, Freight Mate has the flexibility of manufacturing one box or 10,000 boxes.  Price discounts are available for quantity orders.
Question: After I place an order, how soon can I expect to receive my boxes?
Answer: Since the interior of each Benson Box™ is custom fabricated, most orders are processed within 10 days to two weeks.  If printing is requested, an additional delay may occur.  Some customers send us an actual sample of the item to be shipped in the Benson Box™ which enables our Design Team to expedite the design process.
Question: Can I use a credit card to pay for my order?
Answer: Freight Mate accepts Master Card, VISA, and American Express.  Open accounts are considered after receiving a credit application and subsequent credit approval.  Credit cards are suggested for first orders while a credit application is pending.
Question: How will you ship my Benson Box™ order once it is complete?
Answer: Small quantities can be shipped via UPS, FedEx, DHL, or your choice of carrier.  Large orders are shipped on pallets via common carrier.  You may arrange for the shipping or we can obtain quotes and then you can decide on the method of shipping.  Because we are a frequent shipper, several freight carriers offer special rates to Freight Mate.  If Freight Mate arranges for the freight shipment, the freight charges will be added to your invoice.
Question: How can I get a price quotation?
Answer:

Freight Mate is glad to provide a free, no-obligation quotation.  You can contact us by telephone, toll free at 1-800-568-5799, or via e-mail (click here).
